Feinspitzerei began with a passion for bringing the heart of Lungau’s traditional flavors to a contemporary dining experience. Whether you’re here for a casual meal or a special celebration, we pride ourselves on creating unforgettable moments for our guests.

We believe in using only the freshest regional ingredients, combined with international flavors to offer something truly special for every palate

Culinary Leader & Global Advocate

Chef Martin Kobald

Born in Austria, I began my career grounded in traditional techniques and regional cuisine. In 1988, I moved to South Africa, working my way up in leading hospitality brands. By 1995, I founded Kobald’s Catering and opened the restaurant 33 High Street, combining global inspiration with local flavor. I also launched the ChefMLK School of Cooking to mentor future chefs.

For over three decades, I’ve proudly served the South African Chefs Association (SACA), including six years as President, and remain an Honorary Past President. I served as Vice President of Worldchefs from 2016–2024, and now act as Continental Director for Africa & the Middle East, promoting education, sustainability, and culinary growth across the region.

Media roles include judging Clover’s Little Big Cook Off, Checkers campaigns, and leading the Shoprite-Checkers Boerewors Championship jury. I’ve also led large-scale charity work, including the Bidvest World Chefs Tour Against Hunger, feeding 32,000+ children daily.

In 2021, I returned to Austria and now lead the Feinspitzerei Restaurant, fusing international experience with a renewed focus on regional, seasonal and locally sourced cuisine.
